Recently, the U.S. Department of energy (DOE) announced the 2014 updated solid-state lighting (SSL) manufacturing R & D roadmap.
The roadmap complements the solid state lighting research and development program (MYPP), directs core product development projects, and raises funds for manufacturing research and development projects. The roadmap also says that it will provide assistance to suppliers of equipment and materials to the expected development of the SSL manufacturing industry, thereby reducing risk, improving quality, increasing production and reducing costs.
he roadmap is updated every year, and the roadmap still follows the 2013 version of the model in 2014. Among them, LED cost drivers continue to deepen the discussion, OLED production cost model is also included in the scope of the discussion, and new OLED panel manufacturing related topics.
In addition, the panel identified priorities for the LED and OLED industries. The three priority LED industry including support for flexible production of the most advanced LED module, light engine and lamp; developed with high speed and high resolution, standardized testing procedures and reasonable indicators of NDT equipment; improve the fluorescent powder production SSL.
The three priority OLED industry including support for high speed and low cost, uniform deposition of OLED manufacturing equipment development; the development of advanced manufacturing low cost integrated substrate or packaging materials; production technology development of practical OLED panel. DOE will continue to update its R & D roadmap annually, incorporating the latest market analysis, market development, and priorities.
